Yes, its official. Microsoft has now released the final version of their Free Anti-Virus. (You have to have a genuine Windows, hacked version won’t work) We’ve covered in earlier June you can download the public beta version. But soon Microsoft has discontinued the service, but you can still download it from other mirror host.
Today the Final Version of the Security Essential is out.
What’s New?
The new Security Essential is for almost all Windows Platform. Not only it can run on your new Windows 7, it also supports Vista (both 32 and 64 bit) It also supports Windows XP users but only the 32 bit. No native 64 bit support on XP.
What’s Cool about this Security Essential ?
- Comprehensive malware protection
- Simple, free download*
- Automatic updates
- Easy to use
What has exactly changed or improved from the previous beta is still unclear at the time. The final version is v 1.0.1611.0 so if you are a beta tester, get your hands on the new one now. Also for beta, the binary file is only 4.73MB, and now what’s surprising is that the final version has even smaller file size, 4.3 MB for 32 bit OS.
Now the reduced size, means reduced features? Or possibility a better tread off in performance ?
