Samsung has launched a new flagship smartie targeted firmly at eating HTC Desire’s lunch – the Galaxy S, or less snappily, the GT-I9000.
The UK-bound Android 2.1-powered Galaxy S rocks a 4-inch Super AMOLED screen and a 1 GHz processor, 8 or 16GB internal storage as well as a microSD slot and unusually DLNA certified Wi-Fi for media streaming.

The specs reveal that Samsung is clearly going all-out for the multi-media market, incorporating HD video support, as well as video correction tech ripped from Samsung TVs. Finally, native support for AVI, FLV and even MKV video files mean that this beauty will be a strong contender when it hits UK shores.
UK pricing and timings to be announced – in the meantime, check the Samsung Galaxy S pictures on the right…
