EA has officially announced that console classic NBA Jam will be reborn on the Nintendo Wii.
The two-on-two basketball great released back in 1993, was a massive 16-bit console hit and a particularly popular cash guzzler down the local arcade.

EA who recently announced the takeover of the franchise from previous developers Midway, will be hoping for similar success on what should prove a popular remake.
The good news is that EA Vancouver, the game’s developer promises to maintain many of the much loved aspects of the original Jam, but will also add a few new features which will include "true-to-life body types, updated physics and visible player emotion."
EA Sports president Peter Moore explained why the gaming giants decided to revive the slam-dunking title saying, "NBA Jam is one of the most recognizable franchises in video game history."
Moore added, "Diehard fans of the original game have been asking for a remake for more than a decade. We’re very excited to give them their wish this year with the return of this iconic franchise."
You’ll be able to toss flaming three-throws sometime in 2010 as the game still goes through the development stages. We are secretly hoping EA rekindles that Stockton and Karl ‘The Mailman’ Malone double act as part of the vintage gaming homage.
