Publisher Square Enix and developers of the popular console PRG Wild Arms have announced plans to release an iPhone JRPG called Chaos Rings (trailer below).
There have been many developers and publishers trying to tap into the RPG market on the iPhone and in the App Store, however apart from a few early 2D Final Fantasy ports, there hasn’t really been anything to innovative for the platform. With RPG’s typically being extremely in depth experiences, recreating the expectations people have from console RPGs has proven to be quite difficult on the iPhone. However, if anyone is going to be able to get the job done its certainly those involved in the upcoming Chaos Rings. With designs by the character designer of Final Fantasy VII, Yusuke Naora, and music by Noriyasu Agematsu of the Wild Arms series, this title definitely looks promising.
