Windows Vista Ultimate, AVG virusguard & Firewall. I had Spybot S&D but
uninstalled it as I heard there was a conflict.
When I open IE8 it mostly opens my search page, google, If I do a search and
right click a result to open a new tab it will often just sit with a
spinnign circle, other times it will open OK. If it has failed I can then
right click the item in the search engine again and once again ask IE8 to
open the page in a new tab and it opens it immediately, leaving the previous
attempt still not open. The behaviour is the same if I try to open sites
from the desktop or links from within web pages.
I have tried running IE8 with no Add Ons, and I have disabled each of the
facilities in AVG to try to diagnose the problem but none of that seems to
help. If I uninstall IE8 and revert to IE7 all is perfectly OK. I have
installed other browsers and they do not suffer any problem completing the
above tasks. Sometimes IE8 will work fine for days, then just go back to its
old ways! I am finding this problem quite infuriating, each time I try
something that seems to work then within a couple of days I am back to sqare
one.
