Windows Phone 7 Series handset from LG: first photos

We were pleasantly surprised with Windows Phone 7 Series when we first saw it at Mobile World Congress, but details were sketchy about when we’d actually see a Microsoft powered phone carrying the innovative new OS.

All the major players were rumoured to have signed on to produce handsets, but the wait seems like it might stretch late into the year before we’ll be able to properly get to grips with the new Zune and Xbox Live-enabled system.

Windows Phone 7 Series review

In the mean time, we can console you with news that LG isn’t wasting any time. At the recent Engadget Show, Microsoft’s Aaron Woodman turned up with an unnamed LG prototype Windows Phone 7 Series branded device.

The facts are few and far between (without even a whiff of a release date), but we know that it has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 5.-meg camera with flash and the home, back and search buttons required of an official Windows Phone 7 series handset.

Don’t just take out word for it though; to see the prototype a visual grilling for yourself check out the gallery of images.
